Island Aquatech Co-Founder
Jordan is a co-founder of Island AquaTech Inc, a technology development company that is developing innovative products that solve big problems in the aquaculture industry.
In 2017, Island AquaTech was a recipient of the Ignition Fund valued at $25,000 after Jordan pitched the company’s business and oyster cage flipper invention Innovation PEI. Jordan is now growing the business as a resident company at the Startup Zone, a startup incubator in Charlottetown.
Jordan is a fourth-year UPEI Engineering student with a passion for engineering, product design and entrepreneurship. When he was 16 years old, Jordan had his first experience in business when he began designing, constructing, and selling home furniture out of his parent’s garage in North Rustico, PEI. His furniture business, North Shore Projects, created custom living room and dining room furniture for customers across the island.
During his second year of engineering at UPEI, Jordan was involved in a project aimed at automating the oyster cage flipping process, a growing need in the oyster industry. His team designed and manufactured a unique solution in a partnership with an island oyster farm. The project quickly gained traction within the community and a provisional patent was filled with help from UPEI. Island AquaTech Inc. was then born.
